The Hempstead

The existing two-story house posed numerous accessibility challenges.  The first floor was several feet above the surrounding grade, the interior had inaccessible features including living areas on two floors accessed via a staircase, narrow doors and hallways, and no accessible bathroom.  With the installation of a three-stop residential elevator addition on the right side of the house, with an exterior entrance next to the driveway, the exterior and interior access problems were solved.  The first floor was reconfigured to create an accessible bedroom and bathroom.  The bathroom features a roll-under sink, accessible commode, and roll-in shower
